I started searching for a play kitchen on Facebook swap sites about a month ago when I stumbled upon another momma selling an Ikea Duktig kitchen. It was “well loved” and missing the sink, but I snatched it up for a steal ($20!). This little kitchen is $99.99 through the Ikea website and requires assembly, just avoiding the assembly made buying one without the sink worth it!
Once I got it home the research began. I found so many cute
Duktig remodels on Pinterest! I took my inspiration and got to work.
First I found a sink…well actually a plastic bowl/bin from
the dollar store which fit perfectly…score!
Next I had to gather supplies, I set
aside some left over paint from Kennedy’s room for the cabinets and
appliances.
For the countertop, I bought
a sample of Devine Color Horizon Paint from Target.

As for the wallpaper, I order the Wildflower wrapping paper from Rifle Paper Co This decision was not an easy one! I was torn between three different papers, but I’m so happy I chose this one!

I also picked up some Pure Gold spray paint for the fixtures and a sanding block.
During the remodel process I ordered
motion lights from Amazon along with some kitchen necessities such as pots, pans,
and wooden eggs (still waiting for these
to arrive)

So, this remodel was easy but time consuming because I did
multiple coats of paint. I took the
doors off and sanded the entire kitchen just a little bit, wiped it down, primed
it and painted. I sprayed the fixtures
with spray paint and painted the countertop.
After a few coats and dry time, I
reassembled and attached the wallpaper to a piece of foamboard and nailed to
the back. Once I got the kitchen back
inside I added the motion lights in the microwave and stove.
Here is the final product!
