Must Nots! Products I hated during my daughter’s first year

Alright Ladies,
Here are the items I promise you can live without! I made the unfortunate mistake of making these purchases so you won’t have to. Learn from me!

First,
The Kiinde Twist Breastfeeding Gift set.  I was so excited when I purchased this bottle warming set online…and then I was completely disappointed.  It took forever to heat a bottle and I was never one hundred percent sure if I was using it correctly. The bottles sucked, my daughter hated them. The plus side were the pouches and the adapter for the pump.  It made for spill free pumping and easy storage.  SO…my recommendation would be get the adapter for your pump and the pouches but skip the bottle warmer, or any bottle warmer for that matter.  If your water gets hot, fill a large cup and set your pouch of milk in it. It works just fine and is much cheaper.

Next,
The Brica Night Light Musical Baby In Sight Mirror. Now I’m not saying don’t get a mirror, I loved being able to see Kennedy when I was driving. But they are not recommended the nurse in the hospital scolded me when I told her I planned to use one, “they are a distraction!”. But I needed to know that my silent baby was just a sleeping baby and not a dead/choking/or any other crazy horrible story my postnatal mind could think of!  But what I am saying is don’t waste your money on this fancy light up musical one.  I never used these functions because the remote sucked and within a few months the batteries in the remote corroded and it was useless.  Just get a simple mirror so you can see your little one and easy your crazy mind.

Finally,
The Sophie la Girafe Teether. This is a $25 dog toy. Don’t waste your money.

Other mommies out there, what could you do without? Let me know in the comments!

Kennedy's Kitchen Remodel

Hey everyone, I got crafty last month! Check out Kennedy’s Kitchen remodel.

BEFORE

I started searching for a play kitchen on Facebook swap sites about a month ago when I stumbled upon another momma selling an
Ikea Duktig kitchen.  It was “well loved” and missing the sink, but I snatched it up for a steal ($20!). This little kitchen is $99.99 through the Ikea website and requires assembly, just avoiding the assembly made buying one without the sink worth it!

Once I got it home the research began. I found so many cute Duktig remodels on Pinterest! I took my inspiration and got to work.

First I found a sink…well actually a plastic bowl/bin from the dollar store which fit perfectly…score!

Next I had to gather supplies, I set aside some left over paint from Kennedy’s room for the cabinets and appliances.

For the countertop, I bought a sample of Devine Color Horizon Paint from Target.

As for the wallpaper, I order the Wildflower wrapping paper from Rifle Paper Co This decision was not an easy one! I was torn between three different papers, but I’m so happy I chose this one!

I also picked up some Pure Gold spray paint for the fixtures and a sanding block.

During the remodel process I  ordered motion lights from Amazon along with some kitchen necessities such as pots, pans, and wooden eggs  (still waiting for these to arrive)

DURING
So, this remodel was easy but time consuming because I did multiple coats of paint.  I took the doors off and sanded the entire kitchen just a little bit, wiped it down, primed it and painted.  I sprayed the fixtures with spray paint and painted the countertop.

After a few coats and dry time, I reassembled and attached the wallpaper to a piece of foamboard and nailed to the back.  Once I got the kitchen back inside I added the motion lights in the microwave and stove.

Here is the final product!
